USDA Announces CFAP Deadline Extension

Last week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced that the deadline to apply for the current CFAP has been extended to September 11. The original application deadline was August 28. The North American Blueberry Council (NABC) will continue to monitor developments related to CFAP. For direct updates on NABC’s efforts, sign up for NABC newsletters here.

Deadline Extended for 20th Anniversary Awards Program

Haven’t had a chance to submit a nomination for the USHBC 20th Anniversary Awards program yet? The deadline has been extended to Friday, August 28, 2020. You can recognize a colleague, peer or mentor, or nominate yourself or your organization using the form here.

  • USHBC’s Food Manufacturing Program highlights blueberries in the snacking category. Food Processing magazine (23K readers) ran a piece on the increased appeal of fruity snacks in the COVID-19 era. The piece included quotes from USHBC stating how blueberries are on trend, with increased popularity in products like energy bars, fruit snacks and the snack mix category. Further, Food Navigator-Asia (38K readers) and Bakery and Snacks (20K readers) ran articles about the increasing trend of blueberries as an ingredient in Asia.
